Thomasville Area Board of REALTORS® Strategic Plan

Four functional areas have been identified that best describe the areas in which the Thomasville Area Board of REALTORS® will focus activities and actions to provide the members with valuable and effective programs and services.

Education / Training / Code of Ethics / Standards of Conduct
(1) Association Management
Guiding Purpose: TABR shall adhere to our fiduciary duties, be accountable for the management decisions in the highest moral and ethical standard of the National Association of REALTORS®, and effectively communicate within our membership.
- (a) Ensure financial solvency
- (b) Adapt to the changing needs of the general membership
- (c) Ensure professional oversight of the board
- (d) Ensure effective communication
(2) Communications and PR
Guiding Purpose: TABR shall promote value, professionalism, presence, awareness, and knowledge of Realtors® to the general public/consumer.
- (a) Promote and protect the REALTOR® image
- (b) Enhance the REALTOR® image through community involvement and public/consumer awareness
(3) Industry Issues
Guiding Purpose: TABR shall encourage member & consumer involvement in political issues that pertain to property rights, the local real estate industry, and the community.
- (a) Awareness of Issues
- (b) Actively participate in community and governmental affairs as related to real estate
(4) Professional Development
Guiding Purpose: TABR shall provide professional development opportunities to ensure a level of competency in its membership.
- (a) Provide continuing education to meet requirements of GREC standards

Strategic Plan with Operational Objectives
FOCUS AREA 1: Association Management
Focus Area Guiding Purpose: The TABR shall adhere to our fiduciary duties, be accountable for the management decisions in the highest moral and ethical standard of the National Association of REALTORS®, and effectively communicate within our membership.
- (1a) Ensure financial solvency
- Task membership committee with creating an affiliate partnership program and member incentive program
- Set the 2019 strategic plan priorities prior to adopting the 2019 budget
- Task budget committee with presenting a recommendation for a strategy for future adjustment of dues for review and approval by board of directors
- (1b) Adapt to the changing needs of the general membership
- Task MLS administrator to take a general consensus/survey of membership concerns of MLS towards end of contract
- (1c) Ensure professional oversight of the board
- Provide adequate funding for staff professional training (Regional AE Conference and/or AEI)
- Task the staff with developing chronological documentation of AE daily/monthly routine and processes
- Task the President elect to research and establish an annual board of director transition process and meeting protocol; meeting protocol to include Committee Chairs, and Vice Chairs
- (1d) Ensure effective member communication
- Promote board website through Navica banner, quarterly board meetings and newsletter
- Task President to welcome new members
FOCUS AREA 2: Communications and PR
Focus Area Guiding Purpose: The TABR shall promote value, professionalism, presence, awareness, and knowledge of REALTORS® to general public/consumer.
- (2a) Promote and protect REALTOR® image
- Utilize NAR’s ad generator to add filler to local newspapers and publications
- Educate the membership on the proper use of REALTOR® “R’ and logo during orientation, newsletters, etc.
- (2b) Enhance REALTOR® image through community involvement and public/consumer awareness
- Task community service committee with the feasibility of partnering with the City of Thomasville or other organizations to provide a home buyers seminar
- Task community service committee with establishing quarterly events with a consumer outreach component (toys for tots, food drive, first responder’s luncheon, school supplies)
- Research and identify NAR and GAR grants for community and consumer outreach projects/programs
FOCUS AREA 3: Industry Issues
Focus Area Guiding Purpose: The TABR shall encourage member & consumer involvement in political issues that pertain to property rights, the local real estate industry, and the community.
- (3a) Awareness of Issues
- Actively promote calls to action and responses via Navica MLS banner
- Research and identify NAR and GAR grants for RPAC fundraising
- Research and identify NAR and GAR grants for issues support
- (3b) Actively participate in community and governmental affairs as related to real estate
- Task utilities committee to attend, report to board of directors, and initiate local calls to action as needed
- Provide resources to local elected officials (On Common Ground, RPR Statistics)
FOCUS AREA 4: Professional Development
Focus Area Guiding Purpose: TABR shall provide professional development opportunities to ensure a level of competency in its membership.
- (4a) Provide continuing education to meet requirements of GREC standards
- Provide unique, relevant, skillful speakers
- Promote the GAR Scholarship for designations and certifications
- Market applicable CE classes to the public
